What if you led a Kelby Photo Walk and nobody showed up?

Because there was no walk near me I offered to lead one at the Jungle Habitat in West Milford NJ. I did see that no one had signed up (there were still 50 places open) but I thought I had better go just in case. It takes me 1/2 hour to get there and I stayed 1/2 hour (just in case) so I maybe lost 1-1/2 hours but I did walk around a little and shot images with my iPhone. I might just try to do it once again next year. Maybe I will change my portrait on Kelby.
Maybe it was too close to Halloween....

Holy Rollers Car Show 2017

Last year the guy who runs this thing broke his back so we didn't have the show. This year he is much better. That's him in front of the black Chevy. The car owners don't really know it but I am actually shooting portraits and the cars are just the background. The day was perfect. It never rained but there were lots of clouds to make the sky a giant bank most of the time. It was a beautiful day filled with beautiful people.

Emergence NJ

Emergence NJ is a church in Northern New Jersey. To understand it better, know that the have bins mounted to the back wall full of ear plugs. I was hired to shoot a full day seminar about leadership because I am not part of this church. I was not involved in the meetings so I was free to roam around and shoot. It was a typical event shoot with break out meetings and lectures. Just more fun because we got to worship.

Assisting

I worked as a NYC photo assistant for 4 years after I left college. I loved working for many different photographers and learned more than I did in college. I still use what I learned back then today. One fun thing is sitting in for a model while the photographer lit their images. You have to love Polaroid. I have a bunch that switched me for a model. The environment remains the same, it's just you there. Too much fun...

Geek Hive Thrives!

Geek Hive lives in Warwick NY. They just moved to a huge new place and hired me to shoot the grand opening event as well as portraits for their web site and a meeting. It is so cool a place. Every desk raises for standing and lowers for sitting. The environment is warm and inviting an I imagine that the new digs will just increase their already amazing creativity. This made for 2 very fun days.

Disney World

I took my young wife to Disney World long ago. She knew that she had recently married a commercial photographer so she was plenty patient as I would set my camera on something sturdy, set the timer and run back to her for the image to be captured. These images show that no one else knows that a picture is being captured. I'm not sure how many of these I have kept but there were plenty.

Nestle Portraits

80 Portraits in 3 hours. Then back to the studio to do some very minor retouching. This day was nothing but fun. The people at Nestle are all wonderful and really good sports. These 80 portraits as well as some building images I captured after the shoot will all be made into one of those single pictures where each portrait becomes a pixel. It will be hard to find yourself in the final image but the good news it that I shot the images huge so they can be used for things like LinkedIn or Facebook or the website. Fun people make for a fun day.

Bye bye Michael, I hardly knew ya!

Well, it has been confirmed. Michael Harris died as the result of a stroke one year ago. I've been searching for a definitive answer and now I have it. Before picking my son up from Laguardia airport, I stopped by his old apartment. The doorman didn't know Michael but a very nice woman told me that she would take my number and ask another doorman who had been there for years. She just called (thanks you so much) and now I know. My mentor, teacher who became my student has gone. Were I cannot say. Bye Michael. I hardly knew ye!
